Job description

We are hiring a Yard Operations Team Leader for our IAA, formerly SYNETIQ, site. The role involves managing and overseeing site operations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Responsibilities include supervising the loading and unloading of transporters and moving vehicles between locations in adherence to health and safety standards.

Key Areas Of Responsibility
  1. Monitor the organisation of the yard, flow of vehicles, and site housekeeping
  2. Ensure all colleagues complete their tasks to the required standards and within the designated timescales
  3. Provide excellent customer service and support to clients and suppliers, addressing issues effectively
  4. Adhere to Health & Safety and company guidelines to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  5. Manage site security, maintenance, and alarm systems
  6. Oversee daily employee management, including leave, sickness, holidays, training, mentoring, and ensuring safety equipment and tools are in good condition
  7. Attend the site during call-outs to resolve issues
  8. Order fuel and oil as needed and approve stationary requests
  9. Support recruitment and development of yard colleagues and new recruits
  10. Coordinate with the environmental agency to ensure compliance with guidelines
  11. Identify training needs and arrange appropriate courses, including forklift training
  12. Manage all banking and financial transactions related to the site
  13. Complete incident and accident reports
  14. Ensure availability of personal protective equipment
  15. Conduct weekly site inspections and maintain the site diary
  16. Assist the team in maintaining ISO27001 registration
Qualifications and Skills
  1. Ability to lead a team and maximize performance
  2. Full Driving License
  3. Good knowledge of health and safety regulations
  4. Forklift truck license (rough terrain)
  5. Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  6. Mechanical, Metal Recycling, or vehicle maintenance qualification (advantageous)
