Job description

Yard Operations Team Leader

We are seeking a Yard Operations Team Leader to manage and oversee site operations at our site in Red Lodge, Bury St Edmunds, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor yard organisation, vehicle flow, and site housekeeping
  • Ensure safe loading, unloading, and vehicle movements
  • Ensure tasks are completed to standard and on time
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and suppliers
  • Maintain health & safety standards and site security
  • Manage staff, including leave, sickness, training, and safety equipment
  • Respond to site call outs and resolve issues
  • Order fuel and stationary supplies
  • Support recruitment and staff development
  • Coordinate with environmental agencies
  • Arrange training courses, including forklift operation
  • Manage financial aspects of the site
  • Complete incident reports and maintain safety equipment
  • Conduct weekly site checks and maintain records
  • Assist in maintaining ISO27001 registration

Candidate Requirements:

  • Leadership skills and team management
  • Full driving license
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Rough terrain forklift license
  • Basic literacy and numeracy
  • Mechanical, metal recycling, or vehicle maintenance qualification (advantageous)
