Job summary

Lawsons is recruiting a Yard Operative for our Ascot branch. This hands-on role involves receiving, storing, picking and loading fencing, timber, landscaping and building materials safely and efficiently, while supporting the yard and branch teams and maintaining high health and safety standards.

The position is full-time with some Saturday work. We offer a competitive salary, 25 days’ holiday, a pension scheme and development opportunities within a long-established UK-wide merchant network.

Qualifications

• Previous yard/warehouse experience in a builders’ merchant or similar role.
• Experience handling heavy/bulky building materials.
• Physically fit with safe manual handling awareness.
• Forklift experience/certification desirable but not essential.
• Attention to detail and reliability in a busy outdoor yard.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect and store deliveries; report shortages or damages.
• Unload vehicles safely and load customer or company vehicles.
• Pick, prepare and stage orders for collection or delivery.
• Assist customers with loading and provide a professional service.
• Keep yard tidy, stocked and accessible; conduct stock checks.
• Operate yard equipment safely and follow health and safety rules.
• Support branch colleagues and customers with yard duties.
