Job summary

LBS Builders Merchants in Neath is seeking a proactive Yard Assistant to join our busy yard team. This hands-on, customer-facing role involves helping customers, loading vehicles, and preparing orders for delivery or pickup.

The position requires a positive, team-oriented mindset, physical fitness for outdoor work, and a commitment to safety. Forklift training can be supported, with an average 40.75 hours per week from Monday to Friday 7:30am–4:30pm, plus some Saturday mornings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a yard or warehouse is preferred.
• Good customer service orientation and a proactive attitude.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers in the yard and assist with loading vehicles.
• Pick and prepare orders for delivery or collection.
• Load/unload company and supplier vehicles safely and accurately.
• Check materials for quality, quantity and damage.
• Monitor and maintain stock levels and layout.
• Assist with stock takes and housekeeping duties.
• Report accidents, damages or security issues.
• Operate forklift trucks with proper training/certification.
• Maintain high health and safety standards on site.
