Role Overview: Yard Foreman

As a Yard Foreman at Wernick Hire, your role is pivotal in the efficient operation of our busy depot. You will oversee all yard activities, ensuring the smooth repair, refurbishment, and fit-out of modular buildings and cabins. With a focus on health and safety, you'll lead by example, managing a team of yard employees to maintain high standards of quality and safety at all times.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Repair and refurbish cabins/buildings to AQPG standards.
  2. Ensure security of workshop, hire yard, and stock.
  3. Carry out safety checks on all working at height equipment and train staff accordingly.
  4. Lead and motivate the team to ensure productivity and effectiveness.
  5. Maintain stock levels for immediate hires and prepare welfare units for hire.
  6. Mentor junior staff or apprentices.
  7. Prepare cabins/buildings within the yard for delivery, meeting customer requirements.
  8. Complete and submit all company documentation accurately and promptly.
  9. Coordinate with Depot Manager on work progress to ensure timely completion.
  10. Inspect cabins/buildings before delivery for quality assurance.
  11. Inspect returned cabins/buildings for damages or missing items.
  12. Organize and manage subcontractor labor if necessary.
  13. Negotiate with suppliers for materials at the best prices.
  14. Minimize material wastage.
  15. Ensure safe loading/unloading of cabins, buildings, and materials.
  16. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of workshop and yard.
  17. Attend relevant training sessions.
  18. Work in accordance with risk assessments and method statements.
  19. Work additional hours/overtime as required.
  20. Adhere to current health and safety legislation.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Experience in cabin fitting or modular building fit-out (preferred).
  • Management or supervisory experience.
  • Ability to delegate work effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with plumbing, joinery, and electrical work.
  • Full driving license.
  • Resilient, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
