Job summary

REED Business Support is seeking a Yard Operative in Caxton (CB23) for a full-time position. The role involvesGoods In and Goods Out, housekeeping, and prioritising health and safety. A physical role with outdoor duties and teamwork is essential.

You will unload and receive deliveries, report discrepancies, load vehicles, pick orders for dispatch, and maintain a clean yard. A full, clean driving licence is required; forklift training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Unload deliveries, ensuring items are received in good condition and in correct quantities.
• Report discrepancies to Yard Manager and document issues on delivery tickets.
• Load vehicles, ensuring correct quantities and complete paperwork.
• Pick orders for dispatch and ensure accuracy of products.
• Keep yard, stock, and car park areas clean, tidy and safe.
• Follow health and safety policies and wear PPE as required.

Yard Operative

Location: Caxton, CB23

Job Type: Full-time

£26,000 - 30,000REED Business Support are representing our client who are seeking a dedicated Yard Operative to join their team. This role involves a variety of tasks including handling goods in and out, maintaining high standards of housekeeping, and ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will be physically fit and capable of working outside in all-weather conditions, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and customer service.

Day-to-day of the role:

Goods In:

• Unload deliveries, ensuring all items are received in good condition and in correct quantities.
• Report any discrepancies to the Yard Manager or Branch Manager, including taking photos of issues before unloading.
• Handle delivery notes and paperwork correctly, noting any issues on the delivery ticket.
• Follow company's risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work during unloading.

Goods Out:

• Load vehicles ensuring correct quantities and that paperwork is complete.
• Ensure that all loaded vehicles are roadworthy and safe for public highway travel.
• Pick orders in readiness for dispatch, ensuring accuracy and quality of products.
• Securely pack and band pallets for transport.

Housekeeping:

• Maintain high standards as set by the Yard Manager and Branch Manager.
• Ensure all stock is stored securely and safely.
• Keep all yard and car park areas clean and tidy.

Health and Safety:

• Responsible for your own health and safety and maintaining the yard and warehouse standards.
• Report any near misses or accidents immediately.
• Wear appropriate PPE at all times and manage its upkeep.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Physical fitness due to manual handling requirements.
• Ability to operate a forklift; training will be provided.
• Must possess a full, clean driving licence.
• Experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong customer service skills and a team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
