Job summary

Barhale is seeking a Yard General Operative to support loading and unloading activities, keep the yard clean and safe, and assist with depot operations. The role is part of the depot operations team and involves handling documentation and ensuring accurate paperwork for deliveries and returns.

The successful candidate will have experience loading/unloading vehicles, attention to detail, and a forklift licence. Teamwork and adherence to HSEQ procedures are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Experience loading/unloading vehicles and handling paperwork.
• Ability to follow procedures and maintain accuracy in records.
• Forklift licence is essential for the role.

Responsibilities

• Load delivery vehicles using system generated paperwork.
• Ensure external hauliers have the relevant paperwork and Barhale drivers are loaded with allocated deliveries only.
• Receive off-hired equipment, unload and check paperwork for accuracy of plant numbers.
• Transfer information from paperwork to the returns register and raise queries with Administration.
• Check equipment for damage and highlight issues to Workshop Team Leader.
• Ensure all equipment is returned into the correct returns area.
• Prepare non-mechanical plant for hire; cleaning, painting and prepping for use.
• Support hire and tunnelling operations with cleaning and painting duties.
• Ensure works are carried out in accordance with processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Complete risk assessments and report incidents; use PPE and maintain housekeeping.
