Summary

Are you a skilled CNC XYZ Machinist with programming experience on Milling using Siemens 828D or Prototrak / Protrak? Do you have supervisory or managerial experience, or the ambition to develop into this type of role? If so, read on!

We have an exciting new opportunity for a skilled CNC Programmer who wants to progress into a CNC Supervisor or Machine Shop Manager. Commutable from Mansfield, Chesterfield, Derby, Nottingham, and Worksop.

Role and Duties:

1. CNC Programming, Setting and Operating on XYZ Milling and Turning
2. Online and Offline Programming
3. Working with Prototrak and Siemens
4. Building and supervising a machine shop team
5. Read engineering drawings and determine the fixtures, attachments, and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications
6. Work on your own initiative, problem-solving as required, and point out any drawing errors or discrepancies to liaise with the customer
7. Assist relevant office personnel by providing estimated timings (setup and run), material requirements, and additional tooling/jigging for quoting
8. Modify machine speed, tooling, and cutting style to ensure precision and accuracy of parts
9. Oversee cutting process, make adjustments as needed, catch mistakes, and take measures to eliminate errors
10. Inspect finished products for accuracy and quality, including dimensional and surface measurements
11. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, coolant, cleaning, and tool replacement
12. Assist with work scheduling
13. Ensure hygiene standards are maintained in the work and surrounding areas

Skills and Experience Required:

1. Experience in CNC XYZ Machining (Milling essential)
2. CNC Programming and interpreting CNC software
3. Experience with ProtoTRAK or Siemens 828D Controls
4. Training can be provided if experienced with one of these controls
5. Supervisory experience or interest in progressing into such roles
6. Experience reading and working to drawings, including tolerances and dimensions
7. Pro-active communication with colleagues and customers
8. Teamwork skills including communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution
9. Attention to detail and curiosity for problem-solving
10. Strong IT skills
