Job description

Writers / wordsmiths / journalists / storytellers wanted....

Are you a writer or journalist with a passion to change the world?

Would you like to help the homeless get a home, assist those impacted by war to rebuild their lives, prevent loneliness, bring arts and nature into everyone's lives, support care-experienced children to flourish, and collaborate with dynamic, ambitious, and excellent charities and arts organizations? If so, working with The Fundraisers and the Arts Fundraisers could be an ideal FT or PT role for you. We are two leading UK fundraising consultancies helping charities and arts organizations raise money through crafting grant applications and real-world and online fundraising and marketing campaigns.

We need

  • Professional writers or journalists and excellent storytellers with keen attention to detail.
  • Writers capable of editing and proofreading their own work and that of others.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Writers with a strong voice and ability to capture and narrate the voices of the organizations and artists we work with.
  • Writers passionate about changing the world and using their skills for impact.
  • Emotional intelligence, ability to collaborate well with clients and teammates, and meet deadlines are essential.
  • Design skills are a plus but not essential (most of our team do not have this).

We offer

  • Fully flexible working hours to suit your life and commitments.
  • Remote working with regular online interactions, and optional face-to-face meetings. Participation in travel is optional.
  • Training on transforming your writing skills into fundraising expertise, ensuring a versatile career alongside your writing.
  • Freelance opportunities with potential for payroll after a successful trial.
  • Starting pay of £200/day during a 6-month mentoring and training period, increasing to £200-300/day based on writing quality, with most earning over £250/day.
  • Free fundraising training and mentoring.
  • Part of a successful team with a current grant success rate of around 70%, supporting impactful projects across the UK and beyond.
  • Becoming part of two fast-growing companies transitioning to an employee-owned model that shares profits without requiring team investment.
  • A positive, supportive workplace where everyone contributes their strengths and passions.

To apply

Please send the following to julie@thefundraisers.co.uk & hannah@thefundraisers.co.uk:

  • 1-2 pieces of your own writing you are proud of (any format: article, story, poem, fact sheet, speech, etc.).
  • Your CV or LinkedIn profile link if it contains your career details.
  • Up to 500 words explaining why we should select you.
  • Your contact details if sending a LinkedIn profile instead of a CV.

We especially welcome applications from members of the LGBT+ community and/or writers from a global majority or working-class backgrounds.
