Overview

Our London-based marketing team needs a sharp communicator to help make energy fun and simple. Someone who can cut through the complex, ditch formalities, and write for humans: without trying to be a novelist. We’re looking for clarity over flowery language, a balance between serious, silly, and sincere, and the ability to react fast and write at speed to make the words pull their weight.

Note: Previous experience as a writer or copywriter is helpful, but we care more about skill and passion for the mission than about where you are in your career.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, update and sharpen customer communications (of all types, from email to website help guides to app UX) so they really hit the mark.
  • Review, edit and proofread content to ensure claims are accurate.
  • Speak to energy specialists, gather insights and fine-tune communications based on learnings.
  • Turn "boring" or complex messages into clear, engaging, easy-to-understand content.
  • Add small touches to brighten customer experience and strengthen brand affinity.
  • Use SEO or Google Analytics know-how to boost reach and measure impact.
  • Dive into HTML code and make quick changes to improve communications on the fly.
  • Take initiative, chat with customers and energy specialists, and use what you learn to improve our comms; manage your own workload with freedom and responsibility (no prescriptive briefs or account managers required).
  • Be comfortable with a role that evolves and involves working on a variety of projects.
Qualifications
  • Strong writing talent with a knack for making the complex simple and improving communications.
  • Strong instinct for tone: knowing when to dial it up or down.
  • Experience writing in a distinct brand voice is a plus, but not essential.
  • A creative mindset and genuine enthusiasm for new ideas.
  • Openness to feedback and a drive to learn and grow in the role.
  • Ability to understand people, paired with storytelling and problem-solving skills.
  • Awareness of SEO best practices and how to measure communications success is helpful but not a dealbreaker.
