Job summary

Swan Lane First School is seeking a dedicated After School Club Assistant to supervise and care for children, delivering stimulating indoor and outdoor activities, and promoting good behaviour within school policies.

The role requires a relevant Level 2 qualification (or willingness to train funded by the school within the first year) and a DBS check; hours are 3:15 per day (16.25 hours per week).

Qualifications

• Relevant level 2 qualification or willingness to complete the training within the first year.
• Satisfactory criminal records check via the Disclosure and Barring Service before appointment is confirmed

Responsibilities

• Provide stimulating indoor and outdoor activities suited to children's age, stage and needs
• Maintain a clean, safe and stimulating environment, following health and safety practice in all sessions
• Supervise and care for children, treating each as an individual and understanding their needs
• Promote good behaviour and the inclusion of all children, following the school behaviour policy
• Administer first aid under school procedures and record incidents and accidents
• Support children with challenging behaviour, following directions from class teachers and the leader
• Motivate children to take part and support their independence and self-esteem
• Liaise with class teachers, parents, carers and the wider community
• Raise safeguarding and child protection concerns with the leader and designated safeguarding leads
• Report health and safety concerns about children to the Wrap Around Care Leader
• Follow school and council policies and procedures for running the club
• Undertake training needed to develop in the role

Job description

This permanent post supports the After School Club at Swan Lane First School, working alongside the Wrap Around Care Leader. The work centres on supervising and caring for young children, running indoor and outdoor activities, promoting good behaviour and administering first aid. Hours are 3 hours 15 minutes a day, 16 hours 15 minutes a week. Applicants need a relevant level 2 qualification or a willingness to train, which the school funds within the first year.
