WorkWell is an exciting new government/DWP initiative to get people back to work. It provides work placement support and addresses physical or mental health needs via a Mental Health Provider and Physical Health Advisor as part of the team. The pilot in Surrey started in December and aims to empower people to take control of their health, wellbeing, and employment impacts through referral to a WorkWell Coach.
As a key part of the primary care network (PCN) and community hubs, your role will be to create a supportive environment where individuals can identify their health and wellbeing concerns and understand how these affect their employment. You will take a strengths-based approach, focusing on ‘what matters to me’, and develop personalized, holistic support plans to help individuals thrive at work. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of physical activity, mental health, and employment advisors to provide interventions and connect individuals to community support, ensuring they maintain their health, wellbeing, and employment long-term.
To succeed, you’ll need motivational coaching and interview skills, the ability to organize, plan, and prioritize, and a commitment to development. Familiarity with office IT systems, good word processing skills, and the ability to use emails and the internet to create plans and reports are essential. A proactive, flexible approach, along with empathy and person-centered support skills, are also important. You should be committed to reducing health inequalities and capable of inspiring trust and confidence to motivate others.
