Job description

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic technician to join our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) team in Oxfordshire to support the delivery of our industry-leading HOIS programme, responsible for developing best practice inspection guidance for the energy sector.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the day-to-day management and operation of our trial facility in Steventon, Oxfordshire.
  • Assisting with benchmarking test samples through precise mechanical and ultrasonic measurements.
  • Hosting client inspection trials of NDT equipment and techniques.
  • Moving and lifting samples using pallet trucks and electric pallet stackers (training can be provided).
  • Packing and unpacking specimen shipments.
  • Preparing test pieces for trials, including cleaning and marking up.
  • Supporting the design and manufacturing of bespoke test components, including cutting and grinding.
  • Preparing simple reports based on trial results.
Essential Characteristics
  • 5 GCSEs grades 9-4, including Science, Maths, and English.
  • Level 4 apprenticeship, A levels, T levels in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience.
  • An interest in Engineering and Physics.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good numerical and IT skills.
  • Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to multitask and strong organizational skills.
Desirable Characteristics
  • Knowledge or experience of NDT methods.
  • Experience with Excel, Python, etc.
  • Knowledge of the energy sector and challenges related to material degradation in oil, gas, and renewables sectors.
  • A full driving license.

The role is based at our Milton Park office in Oxfordshire, with frequent travel to our test facility in Steventon. You will report to a principal consultant or team leader.
