Job summary

A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Workshop Technician for its Yoker Depot. Workshop Technician (Band 3)

An opportunity has arisen at West of Scotland Rehabilitation & Mobility Centre (WestMARC) for a Workshop Technician at our Yoker Depot. WestMARC offers rehabilitation technology services across six Scottish health boards, supporting wheelchair and seating patients, as well as prosthetics.

The successful candidate will work within a small workshop and technical team, under the supervision of the Workshop Manager. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical expertise for seating and wheelchair services within WestMARC.
  • Configuring and modifying complex manual and powered wheelchairs.
  • Repairing wheelchairs and simple seating equipment brought in by users or mobile engineers.
  • Maintaining communication and working relationships with clinical and technical staff to ensure efficient delivery and repair of equipment.
  • Instructing carers and users in the use of routine equipment, adhering to manufacturer specifications and clinical conditions.

Applicants should have SVQ Level 2 / NC or equivalent knowledge and experience in a relevant engineering environment. Experience working with wheelchairs is desirable, but practical skills in using hand and power tools are essential. Proficiency in M365 IT applications, excellent communication, and organizational skills are required. The candidate must handle difficult situations calmly and manage time-sensitive tasks effectively.
