Salary/Rate: £28k - 30k per year + benefits

Mechanical Workshop Fitter
Bradford
Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:45am – 4:15pm (39 hours per week)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience + overtime

The Role

We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Workshop Fitter to join our busy engineering team. This hands-on role involves the dismantling, inspection, repair, and reassembly of mechanical equipment such as gearboxes, winches, hot blocks, hydraulic pumps, and motors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy industry, plant machinery, HGV, or crane maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Strip down, inspect, and reassemble mechanical components including gearboxes, hot blocks, and winches
• Clean parts thoroughly and check for faults, wear, or defects
• Repair or replace damaged parts as necessary
• Work with hydraulic systems including pumps and motors
• Complete inspection and test sheets accurately and in a timely manner
• Carry out testing procedures to ensure equipment functions safely and effectively
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with company policies
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job progress or issues

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience working in a mechanical fitting role, ideally within heavy industry, plant, HGV, or cranes
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and hydraulic equipment
• Ability to work methodically and safely with attention to detail
• Good communication and record-keeping skills
• Team player with a proactive and flexible approach
• 39-hour week with regular overtime available
• Overtime rates: Time and a half after 39 hours during the week and on Saturdays; Double time on Sundays
