Job summary

Flowserve is seeking a Workshop Technician to join the Overhaul & Repair team. The role focuses on strip, inspection and rebuild of industrial gas turbines in line with OEM drawings and company procedures, working closely with Engineering to develop hands‑on mechanical expertise.

Typical duties include using lifting equipment, maintaining quality records and supporting continuous improvement in a fast‑paced workshop environment. A recognised apprenticeship is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognised apprenticeship in a related industry.
• ONC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering; relevant hands‑on experience considered in lieu of formal qualification.
• Familiarity with industrial gas turbines and related generators.

Responsibilities

• Strip, inspect, and rebuild turbine components and assemblies to approved specifications.
• Collaborate with Engineering and other departments to deliver overhauls on time and to budget.
• Ensure safe handling of lifting equipment and compliance with safety procedures.
• Maintain thorough records in controlled documentation and sign‑off work packs.
• Assist in parts preparation and dispatch to subcontractors as required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the workshop to enhance reliability.

Role Summary

We are looking for a Workshop Technician to join our Overhaul & Repair team. This role focuses on the strip, inspection, rebuild, of industrial gas turbines in line with OEM drawings and company procedures. Working closely with the Engineering team and Overhaul & Technical Services Lead, the Technician will develop hands‑on mechanical expertise with gas turbine assemblies, including GEC EASI, ERBI, Siemens Energy SGT mature units and other industrial gas turbines. This role provides an opportunity to progress technically within turbine overhaul, quality assurance, and customer-focused delivery.

• Teamwork & Communication: Collaborate effectively with team members, Engineering team and other departments to deliver turbine overhauls to agreed specifications on time and on budget. Maintain clear communication regarding progress, challenges, and technical issues to ensure alignment with project objectives and customer requirements. Participate in project meetings, and occasional site visits, applying practical engineering knowledge to enhance understanding of turbine systems. Take responsibility for your own development, seeking guidance and feedback from colleagues and mentors.
• Safety & Sustainability: Work in accordance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times. Ensure safe handling and operation of all lifting equipment, cranes, and tools. Follow company procedures and OEM specifications to ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements. Identify potential risks during the overhaul process and take appropriate action to mitigate them.
• Accountability: Strip, inspect, and rebuild turbine components and assemblies, completing all visual and dimensional inspections accurately. Carry out all gas turbine overhaul activity to a high-quality standard, recording work thoroughly in controlled documentation. Prepare parts for transportation to sub‑contractors and inspect parts returned from repair. Accurately complete and sign‑off work packs as part of the company quality management system. Manage the acceptance and dispatch of goods through the workshop stores, including safe use of all cranes and lifting equipment.
• Quality & Reliability: Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and meets customer expectations for time, cost, and quality. Maintain thorough records of inspections and completed tasks via controlled documentation. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
• Excellence in Delivery: Deliver turbine overhaul projects on time and to specification, demonstrating attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. Support the team with technical expertise and practical problem‑solving. Demonstrate adaptability, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to learn and improve processes.

Required Skills

Education (qualifications & training) Completion of a recognised apprenticeship in a related industry. ONC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering; relevant hands‑on experience considered in lieu of formal qualification. Familiarity with industrial gas turbines, GEC units, Siemens Energy SGT mature, and, ideally, Rolls‑Royce Avon, Olympus, or RB211 generators. Competent in Microsoft Office or similar business systems.

Skills (capabilities & qualities) Strong mechanical aptitude and practical engineering skills. High attention to detail, engineering focus and a methodical approach to work. Effective communication and teamwork skills. An awareness of the challenges within the Energy industry, with a drive to ensure projects are completed on time, in budget and to the required quality standard. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team. Awareness of site repair, maintenance, and installation challenges. Basic project and financial awareness.
