Job summary

James Fisher is seeking a Workshop Technician for a permanent role in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeen. The position oversees maintenance mobilisation, factory acceptance testing, and leads workshop technicians to ensure quality procedures and HSEQ compliance.

Responsibilities include overhaul, repair, testing of fleet assets, driving efficiency, coaching staff, and supporting continuous improvement within a safety-focused team environment.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and/or hydraulic technical proficiency.
• Experience leading and mentoring technicians.
• Ability to drive continuous improvement in a workshop.
• Experience with subsea and offshore deck equipment.

Responsibilities

• Overhaul, repair, and test fleet assets per procedures.
• Ensure equipment is fully tested and maintained.
• Lead technicians to promote development and raise standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and QHSE in the workshop.
• Promote use of mobile devices and smart software for efficiency.
• Identify cost efficiencies in workflow.
• Conduct Off Hire inspections and assist in breakdown reports.

Workshop Technician

The Role:The Workshop Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing all aspects of maintenance mobilisation and factory acceptance testing work in strict accordance with company procedures and HSEQ policy. This role involves leading Workshop Technicians and personnel to adhere to company quality procedures and standards while promoting a OneTeam culture and continuous development within the workshop.

Key Duties and responsibilities:

• Overhaul, repair, and test company fleet assets in accordance with industry best practices and company procedures.
• Ensure equipment is released fully function tested and fabric maintained.
• Drive technician completion of service paperwork and certification during the maintenance process.
• Lead, organise, coach, and mentor workshop technicians and personnel to promote personal development and raise standards.
• Drive workshop continuous improvement strategies and participate in QHSE improvements.
• Support workshop and QA managers in identifying areas of improvement.
• Promote and lead the use of mobile devices and smart software applications to work effectively and drive efficiency.
• Maximise tool time and efficiency by motivating and influencing team members to continually improve and raise standards.
• Lead by example in delivering a flexible approach to overtime.
• Identify areas to increase cost efficiency and efficiencies in workflow processes.
• Conduct Off Hire inspections and participate in Equipment breakdown reports.

You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Key skills, knowledge and experience:

• Strong mechanicaland/or hydraulic background with a high degree of technical proficiency
• Experience in leading and mentoring a team of Technicians.
• Ability to drive continuous improvement and efficiency in a workshop environment.
• Experience in the operation and maintenance of subsea and offshore deck equipment.
