Job summary

APROLIS UK LIMITED (GBR) is seeking an Assistant Workshop Manager to support the Preparation Manager in running the workshop. You will balance hands-on operations with leadership to meet production, quality and customer deadlines.

The role requires strong knowledge of plant and equipment hire, proven supervision experience, and a focus on safety, efficiency and excellent service. You will coach engineers and apprentices and work with Parts and maintenance teams to keep jobs on track.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of the plant or equipment hire industry.
• Previous experience in a workshop supervisory or senior engineer role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven leadership and team-building abilities.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Strong customer service focus.
• Commercial awareness.
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and workshop management systems.
• Good understanding of engineer productivity, utilisation and efficiency targets.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day running of the workshop.
• Allocate and monitor workloads to maximise engineer productivity and ensure customer deadlines are achieved.
• Carry out final quality inspections where authorised.
• Monitor workshop performance and recommend improvements.
• Liaise with the Parts Department to ensure timely parts availability.
• Communicate effectively with internal departments, suppliers and customers.
• Support induction, training and performance reviews.
