Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc in Shotts is seeking a Workshop Supervisor to oversee day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant maintenance and repair activities. You will manage workload, quality and customer service, while driving safety, and coordinating inspections and stock control.

Ideal candidates will hold an HGV licence, City & Guilds or equivalent, and a Certificate of Professional Competence, with strong admin and IT skills and a focus on safety and excellence.

Qualifications

• HGV driving licence is required.
• G&C Guilds qualification or equivalent is required.
• Certificate of Professional Competence is required or obtainable.
• Knowledge of specialist vehicles and winter maintenance operations.
• Understanding of goods vehicle operator licensing regulations.
• Strong administration and communication skills.
• Good IT skills.
• Customer-focused approach.
• Ability to organise workloads and work under pressure.
• Commitment to safety, quality and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Plan team workload and delegate tasks.
• Open and close workshop and mobile technician jobs.
• Coordinate repair and maintenance activities as needed.
• Monitor workshop quality and productivity.
• Carry out vehicle inspections and quality checks.
• Ensure equipment calibrations and safety inspections are completed.
• Lead safety briefings and COSHH assessments.
• Communicate safety updates and gather feedback.
• Maintain compliance with HSE, quality and environmental systems.
• Support workshop administration and stock takes.
