Job Title: Workshop Engineering Supervisor Pump Repair Specialist Role: Workshop Supervisor (Rotating Equipment) Location: Sheffield Salary: GBP45'000 (OTE GBP75'000) + Van + Package Job Purpose:

To supervise and lead workshop operations with a specific focus on the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of industrial pumps. The Workshop Engineering Supervisor will ensure the delivery of high-quality repair services, compliance with safety and engineering standards, and the efficient utilisation of workshop resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Supervision:

    • Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of workshop technicians and engineers.

    • Allocate work and monitor progress, ensuring repair work is carried out to required standards and deadlines.

    • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support where needed.

  • Pump Repair & Maintenance:

    • Oversee the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of a wide variety of pump types (e.g., centrifugal, diaphragm, gear, progressive cavity, submersible).

    • Diagnose faults and recommend corrective action and part replacements.

    • Ensure all repaired equipment is tested and fit for purpose before release.

  • Workshop Operations:

    • Plan and manage workflow to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.

    • Ensure tools, parts, and equipment are available, maintained, and calibrated as required.

    • Maintain accurate job records, service reports, and inspection documentation.

  • Quality Assurance & Safety:

    • Adhere to and enforce HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) regulations within the workshop.

    • Ensure quality standards are met, including compliance with ISO and OEM specifications.

    • Conduct risk assessments and method statements for all workshop activities.

  • Customer & Stakeholder Liaison:

    • Communicate repair progress, issues, and technical findings with relevant departments and customers as needed.

    • Support quotation and reporting processes by providing technical input and time/cost estimates.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Essential:

    • Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

    • Minimum 5 years experience in pump repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

    • Strong mechanical knowledge of rotating equipment and pump systems.

    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and technical documents.

  • Desirable:

    • OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) training/certification on specific pump brands.

    • Experience working within ISO 9001-certified environments.

    • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).

  • Overtime and weekend work may occasionally be required to meet deadlines.
