Job summary

PATH Recruitment seeks a Workshop Supervisor to lead an engineering workshop near Peterborough. The role offers £43,000 per year plus a company van, profit share and enhanced benefits, with 25 days’ holiday and additional holidays.

You will oversee daily workloads, plan engineering activities and ensure safety, quality and readiness of equipment for hire. Ideal candidates will have an NVQ Level 2 in engineering, experience with heavy plant and forklifts, and a CAP license, plus strong leadership

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification at NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
• Competence in electro-hydraulic systems.
• Experience in fault-finding and diagnostics.
• CAP license for inspecting powered access equipment.
• Strong mechanical knowledge within heavy plant, powered access or forklift equipment.
• Leadership skills and the ability to motivate an engineering team.
• Professional communication and workload prioritisation in a demanding hire environment.

Responsibilities

• Organising daily workloads and planning engineering activities.
• Maximising machinery availability through forward planning.
• Ensuring servicing, LOLER inspections, pre-delivery checks and repairs are completed on schedule.
• Carrying out hands-on preventative maintenance and machine inspections.
• Providing guidance and motivation to engineers, leading by example.
• Working closely with the hire office to support depot operations.
• Maintaining high standards of safety, equipment condition and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

As a Workshop Supervisor, you will oversee workshop operations and lead a team of engineers at this well established depot.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Organising daily workloads and planning engineering activities.
• Maximising machinery availability through effective forward planning.
• Ensuring servicing, thorough examinations under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), pre-delivery inspections and repairs are completed on schedule.
• Carrying out hands‑on preventative maintenance and machine inspections.
• Providing guidance and motivation to engineers, leading by example.
• Working closely with the hire office to support efficient depot operations.
• Maintaining high standards of safety, equipment condition and customer service.

About You – Skills & Experience

To succeed as a Workshop Supervisor, you will have:

• An engineering qualification at National Vocational Qualification Level 2 or equivalent.
• Competence in electro‑hydraulic systems.
• Experience in fault‑finding and diagnostics.
• A CAP license for inspecting powered access equipment.
