Workshop Supervisor

Location: Dagenham

Salary: £33k

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Supervisor to join a respected and growing organisation. This role is ideal for an experienced and hands-on individual with a background as a mechanic, engineer, or fitter who is now looking to take on a leadership role overseeing workshop operations and supporting a busy depot team.

The Workshop Supervisor will oversee the daily workflow of service fitters and test & run technicians, ensuring all services and repairs are completed efficiently and on time. They will promote a safe working environment, conduct regular inspections, and support staff development. Responsibilities include managing budgets, forecasts, and cost control, monitoring customer satisfaction, and coordinating workshop activities such as work in progress, on/off hires, and collaboration with warehouse, admin, and transport teams. The role also involves ordering parts cost-effectively, troubleshooting mechanical issues, managing damage charges, warranty maintenance, service reminders, and ensuring accurate barcode tracking for all assets.

Essential Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience as a mechanic, engineer, or fitter.
  • Proven management or senior supervisory experience in a logistics or warehouse environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 quality procedures.
  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office Suite & Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-focused mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise multiple tasks.
Desirable:
  • Experience with Syrinx SP software.
  • Knowledge of workshop operations.
  • Understanding of lean methodology and continuous improvement.
