Job Description:

Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and organised Workshop Stores Person to manage stock control and inventory within an engineering workshop environment. The role will involve handling and maintaining materials, tools, and equipment used in the workshop, with a focus on safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience in an engineering or manufacturing setting and possess a valid Forklift Truck (FLT) Counterbalance license.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Picking, packing, and distributing stock items as required by the workshop team.
  2. Conducting regular stock checks to ensure adequate supplies and accurate inventory records.
  3. Maintaining detailed records of stock movements and ensuring systems are up to date.
  4. Using FLT Counterbalance to unload deliveries, including handling steel items up to 7 meters in length.
  5. Safely unloading wagons and storing materials in designated areas.
  6. Keeping accurate records of all tools, equipment, and site boxes to ensure they are maintained and available for use.
  7. Ensuring that all stock and materials are stored safely in accordance with company procedures.
  8. Maintaining a clean and organised workshop and stores area, adhering to safety standards.
  9. Assisting with general housekeeping duties, including waste management and recycling efforts.
  10. Ensuring tools and site boxes are checked in/out accurately.
  11. Conducting regular inspections to maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
  12. Arranging repairs or replacements for damaged items as needed.
  13. Liaising with workshop staff, supervisors, and suppliers to manage stock levels and incoming deliveries.
  14. Assisting with any ad-hoc duties as required to support the smooth running of the workshop.

Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Experience in a stores or stock management role within an engineering or manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  2. Valid FLT Counterbalance license with experience handling steel or long materials (up to 7m).
  3. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage stock levels and keep accurate records.
  4. Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a workshop or industrial setting.
  5. Familiarity with stock control systems and basic computer literacy.
  6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements:

  1. Physically capable of performing manual handling tasks (e.g., lifting and moving heavy materials).
  2. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  3. Good communication skills to work effectively with colleagues and suppliers.
