Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is partnering with a packaging machinery manufacturer serving the food industry. The role starts as a Workshop Engineer 50% of the time and, after training, becomes a hybrid 50/50 split between workshop and field service, covering the UK from a Heathrow-area base.

You must be a qualified Multi Skilled Electrical/Electronic Engineer with a full apprenticeship. Expect installation, commissioning, repair and refurbishment of machines, with travel, overtime, and some weekend

Qualifications

• Experience as a qualified multi-skilled Electrical / Electronic Engineer with a full apprenticeship.
• Packaging machinery or food industry experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, repair and refurbish packaging machines on client sites across the UK.
• Pre-installation and workshop work at the company office until training completes.
• After training, work 50% in workshop and 50% on client sites, nationwide.
• Overtime is paid and travel with overnight stays (1–2 nights/week); occasional weekend work if required.

An unusual role offering 'the best of both worlds' combining both being a Workshop Engineer 50% of your time and after training a Field Service Engineer for the other 50%, for a packaging machinery manufacturer supplying the food industry.

BASIC SALARY:

up to £48,000

BENEFITS:

• Overtime to earn £5,000 to £7,000 to earn circa £55,000

Home based but you MUST be commutable to the companies UK office near Heathrow airport, as you will be office based.

After training you will be office based 50% & field based 50%, covering the UK.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Workshop Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Factory Maintenance Engineer - packaging machinery, food

After you have completed your training, this role will become a hybrid Workshop Engineer / Field Service Engineer role, with a 50 / 50 split of your time.

As a Workshop Engineer, you will be working on machines pre-installation in the workshop at the companies office and after training as a Field Service Engineer you will be required to work on client sites and will be responsible for installation, commissioning, repair and refurbishment of machines on sites across the whole UK.

Overtime is paid door to door and you can expect to travel and stay away from home 1 to 2 nights per week and to be available to work weekends twice a month if required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

• You will be an experienced Workshop Engineer, or a Factory Maintenance Engineer who is now looking for hybrid workshop and field service role.
• The company will also consider an experienced Field Service Engineer who would like a better work life balance, spending less time away from home.
• Any previous experience of working on packaging machinery and / or of working within the food industry would be advantageous.
• You MUST be a qualified Multi Skilled Electrical / Electronic Engineer, having completed at least a full apprenticeship.
