A leading construction firm based in Southampton is seeking a Workshop Plant Technician to maintain and repair a variety of construction equipment. The ideal candidate will have NVQ qualifications in Mechanical or Plant Maintenance and experience in a workshop setting. Responsibilities include servicing plant assets and delivering excellent customer service. Are you an experienced workshop plant mechanic or fitter with a passion for keeping construction equipment in top condition? We're looking for skilled and dedicated people to join our team, helping to maintain and repair a wide variety of construction plant.
The Role
As a valued member of our Plant team, you will play a key role in servicing, repairing, and maintaining a range of plant assets to ensure they are safe, reliable, and ready for use.

While the role is primarily based in the workshop, you may occasionally be required to attend breakdowns on site in emergency situations.
We would love to hear from you if
You hold a relevant NVQ qualification (Level 2 or above) in Plant, Mechanical, or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, or an equivalent recognised qualification, and have at least 2-3 years' practical experience in a similar workshop environment. You possess a full, clean UK driving licence and can demonstrate proven skills in diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
You will be confident reading and interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics, and will have a strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements in a workshop setting. You'll be proficient in using workshop tools, equipment, and digital technology systems, including the ability to record inspections and maintenance using a tablet. Experience with capturing images for compliance purposes would also be an advantage.
It would be beneficial if you have manufacturer-specific training or certifications, experience maintaining towable equipment, or expertise with hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems. A forklift or telehandler licence, experience mentoring junior technicians, or knowledge of Lean or continuous improvement practices in a workshop environment would also be welcome additions to your skill set.
