Job summary

JDR Recruitment is recruiting for a Trade Counter / Workshop Operative in Reading (RG2) with immediate start. The role is hands-on, customer-facing and suited to someone confident with tools who enjoys learning new skills. Full training provided and ongoing work available.

Shifts Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Salary £12.71 per hour with weekly pay and potential for long-term opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in a trade counter, warehouse, workshop, or similar environment preferred.
• Confident using tools and learning new skills.
• Strong communication and good English.

JDR Recruitment are recruiting for a Trade Counter / Workshop Operative for a busy industrial supplies business based in Reading (RG2).

This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role, ideal for someone who is confident using tools and enjoys learning new skills. Full training will be provided.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday
8:00am - 5:00pm

Duties Include:

• Using hand tools and workshop equipment
• Assembling and repairing products
• Assisting customers at the trade counter
• Picking and preparing orders
• Maintaining a clean and organised work area
• Dealing with customer enquiries and providing excellent service

What We’re Looking For:

• Good practical skills and confidence using tools
• Previous experience in a trade counter, warehouse, workshop, DIY, builders merchant, or similar environment preferred
• Strong communication skills and good English
• Friendly and professional customer service skills
• Quick learner with a positive attitude
• Reliable and punctual
