Job description

  • Position:Workshop Operative
  • Salary: £12.50 – £15 ph
  • Location: Billingshurst
  • Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5 pm
  • Benefits: On-site parking

We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Workshop Operative to support the smooth and efficient running of our production facility. As a Workshop Operative you will be working across various areas of the workshop, operating machinery (once trained), maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and contributing to a positive team environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing tasks independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.

Warehouse Operative responsibilities:

  • Carry out assigned tasks promptly while following all health and safety protocols, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of workshop equipment in line with safety standards and risk assessments.
  • Work flexibly across different sections of the workshop as directed by the Team Leader, understanding and completing tasks as required.
  • Inspect products throughout the production process to maintain high quality standards.
  • Operate workshop machinery once trained, ensuring all safety and operational procedures are followed.
  • Report any issues with production schedules or equipment to the supervisor immediately.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive working environment.

Skills & experience required:

  • Familiarity with production processes and the ability to interpret job schedules.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • A responsible and proactive approach to work, with respect for colleagues and the workplace.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks based on production needs.
  • Calm under pressure and capable of making sound decisions when needed.
  • Accurate record-keeping and a good understanding of internal systems.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Physically capable of handling materials and moving products around the workshop safely.
