Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct MOT inspections following DVSA guidelines.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on the Council's vehicles.
• Assist with Hackney Carriage testing.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Workshop Technician / MOT Tester to join the Transport Services team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake MOT inspections in accordance with DVSA guidelines.
• Conduct Hackney Carriage/private hire testing to the required standards.
• Assist in providing repair and maintenance services for vehicles, plant, and equipment for internal and external customers.
• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on a varied fleet of vehicles, including Plant vehicles and specialist equipment.
• Perform inspections, repairs, and maintenance on all Council vehicles and equipment to Ministry of Transport standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of four years’ full-time employment as a mechanic/technician working on diesel engines, petrol engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
• DVSA nominated tester (Classes IV and VII) certificate.
• NVQ Level 2 in motor vehicle studies or equivalent qualification, or previous MOT tester experience.
• Ideally hold a Large Goods Vehicle Class ‘C’ licence and MOT nominated tester classes 4 & 7, but training will be provided if not.
