Job summary

Path Recruitment is seeking a Workshop Manager for a well-established construction company near Torquay. Based at a depot, you will supervise a team of service engineers, manage workloads and support hands-on mechanical and electrical work on plant machinery such as telehandlers, dumpers or diggers.

The role includes ordering parts, planning logistics for spare parts, tools, transport and manpower, checking time sheets and inspection reports, and training the engineering team.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising service engineers and managing workloads.
• Experience with parts ordering and planning logistics for spare parts, tools, transport and manpower.
• Hands-on with mechanical or electrical work on plant machinery including telehandlers, dumpers or diggers.
• Experience training and developing an engineering team.
• UK driving license required.
• Previous construction industry workshop management experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the service engineers in relation to time and workloads and make clear, accurate decisions.
• Plan logistics for spare parts, tools, transport and manpower to arrive promptly.
• Hands-on assistance with mechanical or electrical work on plant machinery.

Job Role:

As the workshop manager, you will be supervising the service engineers in relation to time and workloads and the ability to make clear and accurate decisions.

You will need to have experience in parts ordering and effectively plan the logistics for spare parts, tools, transport, and manpower to arrive in a timely manner.

You will be hands-on, assisting with any mechanical or electrical work on a range of plant machinery including telehandlers, dumpers or diggers.

Checking and processing time sheets and inspection reports.

You will need to be able to train and develop your engineering team.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have previous experience within the construction industry as a workshop manager, workshop supervisor, workshop foreperson, chargehand, service manager or senior engineer.

You will hold a full UK driving license.

You will also have previous experience managing engineers within the plant hire, agricultural, vehicle, automotive or HGV background.
