Job summary

Fox Platt is seeking an experienced HGV Workshop Manager in Greater Manchester. The role is permanent, Monday–Friday, days, 40 hours per week. Basic salary up to £75k with OTE £90k+. Over 40 hours paid at x1.5. The job involves leading a team of technicians and hands-on duties.

The position requires a City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, a Full UK Driving Licence, and PSV workshop experience. Safety training (COSHH/IOSH) is essential, with a track record in management roles.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• COSHH/IOSH training.
• Experience in a management role (supervisory/above).

Responsibilities

• Instruct staff on safe workshop practices and correct use of equipment.
• Maintain compliance with legal and company standards.
• Lead and support a team of HGV technicians to high standards.
• Manage people, performance, attendance and scheduling.
• Control daily workshop operations to sustain productivity and quality repairs.
• Ensure customer satisfaction and meet company targets.
• Schedule work to maximise workshop efficiency.

Job Description

• Ensure that all staff are fully instructed on safe workshop practices and correct use of all workshop equipment
• Ensure the workshop works to legal and Company standards at all times
• Responsible for a team of HGV Technicians; leading, motivating and supporting them to work to a high standard
• Responsible for people and performance management of the team including time and attendance
• Responsible for the daily control of the workshop in order to maintain a high level of productivity and quality repair
• Ensure customer satisfaction and Company performance targets are met
• Schedule work to maximise efficiency of the workshop
