GAP Group Limited is seeking an experienced Workshop Foreman to lead the depot workshop in Birmingham. You will oversee the fleet of diggers, dumpers and power tools, manage a team of Fitters, coordinate workloads, and drive safety, efficiency and quality in a hands-on, high-impact role.

Qualifications

Senior plant mechanic/fitter experience with a relevant qualification or time-served background.
Up-to-date knowledge of heavy plant machinery maintenance.
Strong ability to manage a team in a fast-paced workshop environment.
Full, valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

Overseeing the day-to-day running of the depot workshop and ensuring plant equipment is consistently available for hire.
Allocating and monitoring workloads across the fitter team to maximise productivity and meet performance targets.
Leading by example to maintain high standards of safety, service, and equipment care.
Implementing planned maintenance programmes to reduce downtime and repair costs.
Ensuring accurate records of servicing, repairs, and appliance testing are maintained and compliant with legislation.
Managing workshop cleanliness, vehicle maintenance schedules, and off-hire inspections.
Coaching and developing workshop staff, identifying training needs, and supporting career growth.
Monitoring plant breakdowns and ensuring efficient resolution.
Ensuring appropriate PPE is worn and safe working practices are followed at all times.
