A leading hire company is seeking an experienced Workshop Foreman in Farnham. The role involves overseeing a team of engineers, ensuring equipment maintenance, and adhering to safety standards. Workshop Foreman – Farnham (Heavy Plant)
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per annum
Hours: 45 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Location: Southampton
We're currently working with one of the fastest-growing hire companies in the South, and they’re looking for an experienced Workshop Foremanto join their busy depot in Farnham.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid background in plant hire, tools, or powered access who’s ready to step into a leadership role—or for someone already in a supervisory position who’s looking for a new challenge within a growing and supportive business.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and supervising a team of workshop and field Plant Engineers
Hands-on work, including maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a range of plant, tools, and powered access equipment
Allocating daily jobs and managing the workshop schedule
Maintaining high standards for equipment safety and performance
Monitoring team productivity and performance targets
Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures at all times
Liaising with the hire desk and other departments to prioritise urgent repairs and machine availability
Overseeing stock control, parts ordering, and workshop tooling
Supporting the development and training of junior engineers and apprentices
What we're looking for:
Previous experience in a Workshop Foreman, Chargehand, or Lead Engineer role
Strong technical knowledge of plant, construction, or access equipment
NVQ or similar qualification in plant, mechanical, or engineering disciplines
A hands-on approach with the ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs
Organised, proactive, and confident in managing a team
Good understanding of LOLER, PUWER, and general health and safety standards
What’s on offer:
Competitive salary between £45,000 and £55,000 (depending on experience)
