Job summary

Durham County Council’s Fleet Services is seeking 2 Workshop Fitters to repair and maintain a range of plant, light and heavy vehicles. You will work with diagnostic equipment and respond to breakdowns as required, contributing to efficient service delivery.

Open day information and pre-employment checks are included, with a friendly team and opportunities for hybrid working where applicable. An in-house driving assessment may be part of the process.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in light/heavy vehicle or horticultural machinery maintenance.
• Hold a minimum Category B driving licence.

Are you qualified in vehicle or machinery maintenance and ready for a new opportunity? Fleet Services in Environment are looking for 2 Workshop Fitters to join their Team.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

To undertake the repair and maintenance of plant, light and heavy vehicles.

Listed below are some of the responsibilities this role will be primarily responsible for:

• Undertake the repair and maintenance to various types of vehicles, plant and associated equipment in accordance with the Unit’s stated performance targets and customer requirements.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and specialist tools / equipment.
• Attend vehicle and plant breakdowns and provide assistance as appropriate.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

• Qualification in light or heavy goods vehicle maintenance or horticultural machinery maintenance to a minimum of NVQ level 2 or equivalent
• Hold a minimum category B driver licence

If successful, you will be required to undertake and pass an in-house driving assessment as part of our pre‑employment checks before any offer of appointment can be confirmed.
