Job summary

The Best Connection is recruiting a Workshop Engineer for its client in Aylesford, Kent. The role is primarily based in the workshop, maintaining, servicing and repairing a range of plant and equipment including concrete pumps and mixer drums.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 07:30–17:00 with overtime opportunities. A hands-on mechanical background and the willingness to learn are essential for this varied, practical position.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on engineering or mechanical experience.
  • Experience in maintenance/repair of plant equipment.

  • Ability to work in a practical, sometimes dirty environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, service and repair a range of plant and equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults.
  • Work on concrete pumps and mixer drums.
  • Carry out general workshop engineering duties.
  • Occasionally attend customer or site locations to carry out repairs.
  • Use a company van when travelling to external jobs.
  • Maintain a safe and organised working environment.

Workshop Engineer

Location: Aylesford, Kent

Pay: £16.00 - £21.00 per hour, depending on experience

Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 17:00

Contract: Temp to Perm or Permanent

The Best Connection is currently recruiting for a Workshop Engineer to join our client based in Aylesford.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established plant hire business specialising in the maintenance, repair and servicing of a range of equipment, including concrete pumps and mixer drums.

The Role

Working primarily from the workshop, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing a range of plant and equipment.

The role will involve:

  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing plant and mechanical equipment
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults
  • Working on equipment including concrete pumps and mixer drums
  • Carrying out general workshop engineering duties
  • Occasionally attending customer or site locations to carry out repairs
  • Using a company van when travelling to external jobs
  • Maintaining a safe and organised working environment

This is a hands-on and varied role where no two days are necessarily the same.

About You

We are looking for someone with practical engineering or mechanical experience. Candidates from a variety of backgrounds will be considered, including:

  • Plant or agricultural engineering
  • HGV or vehicle mechanics
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Construction equipment maintenance
  • Heavy machinery
  • Industrial maintenance
  • Other relevant hands-on engineering backgrounds

Specific qualifications or certifications are not essential. Previous practical experience, mechanical knowledge and a willingness to learn are more important.

Due to the nature of the equipment and work environment, applicants should be comfortable working in a practical setting which can occasionally be dirty, muddy and physically demanding.
