Job description

A well-established civil engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced and proactive Workshop Engineer to support its internal plant maintenance operations based in Telford. Working from a modern, fully equipped workshop, you'll play a critical role in ensuring plant and machinery is maintained to the highest standard to support site delivery across a broad range of civil engineering projects.

  • Carry out servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a fleet of heavy plant.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults efficiently.
  • Complete all workshop-based engineering tasks to meet safety, quality, and time standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities using electronic systems.
  • Liaise with operations teams to schedule repairs and minimise downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety legislation and internal policies.
  • Proven experience working as a workshop or plant engineer within construction, hire, or industrial settings.
  • Strong fault-finding skills and hands-on expertise in mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with health & safety practices in workshop and site environments.
  • A team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.
