Job summary

A leading materials handling business in Exeter is seeking a Workshop Engineer to service, maintain, and repair forklift trucks and other Material Handling Equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, relevant qualifications, and experience in a workshop environment. This role offers a salary of £30k - £34k per year with overtime and benefits. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar workshop-based engineering role.
  • Experience working on FLTs or MHE.

  • Work collaboratively with the workshop team to ensure efficient turnaround of equipment.

Are you a mechanically minded engineer looking for a workshop-based role with consistency, stability, and support? We are seeking a Workshop Engineer to join a leading materials handling business, based full-time at their Exeterworkshop. You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing forklift trucks and a range of other Material Handling Equipment (MHE), ensuring minimal downtime and excellent service delivery.

Key Responsibilities of the Workshop Engineer:

  • Carry out reactive repairs on a range of Material Handling Equipment
  • Diagnose faults and identify cost-effective solutions
  • Work collaboratively with the workshop team to ensure efficient turnaround of equipment
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with health & safety standards
  • Key Requirements of the Workshop Engineer:
  • Strong mechanical background - ideally from forklifts, automotive/vehicles, plant, or similar
  • Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in a similar workshop-based engineering role
  • Excellent communication and fault-finding skills
