Job description

Workshop Engineer

Salary: £15.50 + per hour

Hours: 8am – 5pm (also includes an on-call rota; overtime is available)

The Role

The workshop engineer will take complete responsibility for repairing electrical motors, pumps, and gearboxes and any specific workshop tasks as required by the Supervisor/Manager.

  • Undertakes repair of electric motors, pumps, and gearboxes.
  • Ensures deadlines are met to meet customer expectations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Overhauls a wide variety of pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
  • Carries out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and assembly of pumps and other related rotating equipment.
  • Fault-finds on breakdown equipment.
  • Adheres to Health and Safety protocols.
  • Completes workshop documentation and passes it to the Workshop Supervisor or Manager.
  • Completes daily timesheets.
  • Keeps a clean and tidy work area.
  • Available for call-out shifts or overtime as directed by the Workshop Supervisor or Manager.
  • Performs any other duties within capabilities as directed by the Workshop Supervisor or Manager.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience with electrical motors, pumps, and gearboxes.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and PPE.
  • Team player.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal working hours.
  • Good timekeeping skills are essential.
