We are looking for a Workshop Coordinator for the propulsion workshop in Glasgow.

What will you be doing:

Your work will include all coordination tasks of workshop orders and projects in close cooperation with the workshop team (internal) and the customer (external). On a typical day, you might start with preparations for an urgent overhaul arriving at the workshop. While the work requires a high level of independence, you will have the support of the Team Leaders Workshop Management. A technical background, preferably within a service position, is desirable but not essential.

As a workshop coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the sales department in workshop-related quotations, especially for non-standard jobs, including pricing/cost estimation and planning.
  • Coordinating the order process from receipt of the Purchase Order or Project Handover until completion.
  • Planning workshop orders and monitoring progress.
  • Participating in planning meetings with the workshop team.
  • Handling communication with internal and external customers.
  • Securing documentation for invoicing.
  • Purchasing from subcontractors, both direct and indirect.
  • Arranging and coordinating deliveries.
  • Managing shipping papers and specialist transports of Propulsion-specific items (e.g., escorted transports).
  • Overseeing maintenance, calibration, and building facilities.
  • Ensuring supplier maintenance and compliance.
  • Monitoring sustainability and environmental waste management.
  • Supporting the Operations Team when required.
  • Participating in the rotational On Call Team for Propulsion out-of-hours calls.

To be successful in this role, you should be:

  • Accountable for your tasks and responsibilities.
  • A collaborative team player who engages with others to deliver results.
  • A multi-tasker comfortable juggling multiple projects while maintaining momentum.
  • Detail-oriented with a methodical and practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Flexible in approach, with a customer service mindset.
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Capable of managing different orders and projects simultaneously.

At Wärtsilä, we value, respect, and embrace diversity and are committed to inclusion and equal employment opportunities. Everyone can be their true self and succeed based on their job-relevant merits and abilities.
