Job Opportunity: Workshop Controller in Coleraine

We are collaborating with a prominent commercial vehicle provider in Northern Ireland to find a talented Workshop Controller who will enhance their customer service team in Coleraine.

Salary: Highly competitive salary offered

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee the smooth operation of the depot workshop daily
  2. Allocate jobs, plan, and execute tasks considering technician capabilities
  3. Maximise staff utilisation and sold hours to ensure high workshop productivity
  4. Plan workshop space efficiently
  5. Ensure all vehicles are road tested as required and appropriate
  6. Manage holidays and sickness absences to maintain adequate coverage for scheduled work
  7. Coach technicians and apprentices to develop skills and knowledge
  8. Coordinate with the training department for technician training attendance
  9. Liaise with the parts department to ensure timely availability of parts
  10. Ensure all job cards are signed off with accurate and complete information
  11. Perform quality checks to ensure 'right first time' standards for service, repair, and PSV
  12. Review completed job cards for accuracy and completeness
  13. Report and quote all vehicle defects to customers
  14. Challenge technicians on efficiency, hours sold, and vehicle cleanliness
  15. Report maintenance issues in the workshop
  16. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and procedures
  17. Perform any additional duties as directed by the Dealerpoint Manager or Directors
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Strong technical knowledge and background in heavy commercial vehicles are essential
  • Have a strong commercial focus with understanding of factors affecting technician efficiency and utilisation
  • Possess excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and adapt to changing operational needs
  • Hold a full, valid driving licence
