Job summary

FMG Repair Services is seeking a capable Bodyshop Production Manager to run the workshop daily, ensuring productivity, quality and outstanding customer service while upholding safety standards. The role sits on our Gateshead site, reporting to the FMG RS leadership team within the ZIGUP Group.

We expect a strong background in bodyshop environments, with NVQ3/City & Guilds or ATA qualifications, a full UK/EU driving licence, and a hands-on leadership style.

Qualifications

• Ideally NVQ level 3/City & Guilds or ATA qualification with solid bodyshop background.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and produce compliant, high-quality work.
• Ability to prioritise and plan work effectively.
• Full UK/EU Driving Licence.
• Hands-on, can-do approach to getting things done.
• Pride in delivering excellent customer experience daily.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of technicians, painters, MET technicians, and support staff.
• Drive workshop productivity and efficiency to maximise performance.
• Monitor and manage repair quality to meet manufacturer and company standards.
• Oversee work allocation and workflow to minimise vehicle repair times.
• Ensure KPI, financial, and operational targets are achieved.
• Manage customer expectations and support resolution of escalated issues.
• Promote accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bodyshop Production Manager to join the UK's leading Accident and Collision Repair specialist in our increasingly busy site in Newcastle

The Role

As Bodyshop Production Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the workshop, ensuring productivity, quality, and customer service targets are achieved while maintaining a safe and positive working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of technicians, painters, MET technicians, and support staff
• Drive workshop productivity and efficiency to maximise performance
• Monitor and manage repair quality, ensuring manufacturer and company standards are met
• Oversee work allocation and workflow management to minimise vehicle repair times
• Ensure KPI, financial, and operational targets are achieved
• Manage customer expectations and support the resolution of escalated issues
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures
• Control workshop costs, labour performance, and resource planning
• Work closely with the leadership team to identify opportunities for growth and improvement

Another very important aspect of the job is teamwork as you will be working with other colleagues in the Bodyshop as well as across other functional areas. About you

• Ideally you are qualified to NVQ level 3/City & Guilds or ATA qualified with a solid Bodyshop background - as a Bodyshop Production Manager, Workshop Manager or Quality Controller within a Car Dealership, Body Repairer or Crash Repair Centre, whether the job at hand is routine or more complex, you will know just how to solve it.
• You come from a fast-paced background - you know how to work in a standard job time structure with a focus on producing compliant, high-quality work.
• You can do more than one thing at once - you can be sure you will never be looking for something to do, so being able to prioritise and plan your work is key.
• You will have a full UK/EU Driving Licence
• You get involved in every part of our business - you take pride being part of the FMG Repair Services team and are keen to help colleagues with a hands-on, can-do approach to getting things done.
• You take pride in providing a great customer experience each day - you understand what is important to your customers and suppliers.
