Yardman / Workshop Cleaner / Workshop Assistant / Garage Hand / Garage Assistant

Location: Southampton

Hours: 7.30 am to 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday (including ½ hour unpaid lunch)

Salary: £24,700 to £32,000 (dependent on experience and HGV licence)

Requirements: Must hold and maintain a current full driving licence. HGV Class 1 licence is preferred but not essential.

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Yardman / Workshop Cleaner / Workshop Assistant. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and organization within the workshop, yard, and tool store, assisting with vehicle movements, and supporting workshop operations. You will report directly to the Workshop Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Cleaning and tidying workshop, yard, and tool store areas.
  2. Deep cleaning workshop floors using industrial cleaners.
  3. Emptying bins and managing scrap materials for recycling.
  4. Assisting with vehicle movements to support workshop productivity.
  5. Cleaning courtesy vehicles and general workshop husbandry.
  6. Demonstrating self-motivation and a proactive approach to duties.
