To be responsible for the day-to-day operational management, safety, cleanliness and security of the Everton Free School & Football College estate and ensuring that they are safe and clean for all users.

Management

  • Ensure Johnsons H&C and Everton Free School & Football College are run safely, efficiently and effectively to the required client standard.
  • In conjunction with the School Business Manager, be responsible for the management of the Asset Maintenance programme including the recording of and disposal of all fixed and portable school assets, managing the maintenance and replacement programme necessary to maintain it.
  • In conjunction with the Facilities Manager, coordinate the work of maintenance, cleaning and grounds contractors, ensuring that the standard of work is in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements or contract agreements.
  • Be responsible for the management and operation of site security systems including fire alarm systems, intruder alarm systems, security door systems and CCTV (including supporting school staff and Local Police if/when incidents occur.
  • Manage systems such as heating, cooling and lighting.

Maintenance

  • Set up and manage repair programmes and defect reporting systems, ensuring that the buildings and grounds are well-maintained and fit for purpose.
  • To liaise and maintain relationships with suppliers, contractors and hires of the school and deal with any problems as they arise.
  • Report regularly to the School Business Manager and Facilities Manager on the future resource requirements with regard to the general maintenance of the site and fabric of the school estate.
  • To Perform temporary and minor repairs around the school site and to take the lead on and contribute to scheduled works.
Health & Safety
  • The post holder must carry out the duties with full regard to the School’s Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Financial Regulations Policies.
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety regulations in relation to premises management are complied with including, for example, fire regulations, risk assessment, management of COSHH, provision of PPE, working at height, management of work equipment, management of contractors.
  • Check site regularly (at least weekly) for any potential Health and Safety issues, taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Complete risk assessments in relation to any concerns on site and take any corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure all contractors visiting the site are fully inducted on health and safety procedures and relevant risk assessments.
  • Attend Everton Football Club Health and Safety Committee meetings as necessary.

Cleaning

  • The post holder will be required to undertake cleaning duties. This would include the managing hazards and risks including removal of general spillages and debris, body fluids and damage etc. using appropriate protective clothing supplied by the school.
  • Monitoring and replenishing janitorial supplies and washroom facilities throughout the school day.
  • Ensure equipment is kept clean, well maintained, is in safe working order, i.e. PAT Tested etc. and that any machinery faults are reported.

General Responsibilities

  • Act as a designated key holder, providing emergency access to the school site.
  • Undertake general portage duties including moving furniture and equipment within school.
  • Carry out all duties with due regard to confidentiality and data protection regulations.
  • The post-holder will adhere to the school’s safeguarding policy which safeguards and promotes the welfare of children.
  • To offer flexibility of working hours in unforeseen circumstances and to arrange and provide cover for community use and team absence if required.
  • To undertake such additional duties as are reasonably commensurate with the level of this post

  • Ability to work with and communicate effectively with a range of school stakeholders and service providers by advising, guiding, negotiating, persuading in all matters relating to premises management, encouraging others to adopt a desired course of action, resolving problems or circumstances that may be outside current remit.
  • Demonstrate effective skills in working with children
  • Understanding of Health and Safety regulations in relation to premises management and their application within an educational environment
  • Experience of working to Health and Safety legislation
  • Experience of managing teams
  • Experience in setting up and managing repairs and maintenance programmes
  • Experience in managing building and maintenance contractors
  • Experience of compiling health and safety documentation such as risk assessments, policies and statutory inspections logs.
  • Experience of working in an educational environment
