Job summary

Linear Recruitment is seeking a seasoned Working Foreman to join a well-established civil engineering contractor on a freelance project in Stockton-on-Tees. This hands-on, site-based role requires coordinating day-to-day site operations, managing subcontractors and site teams, and ensuring works are delivered safely and to the required standard.

The ideal candidate will have leadership experience as foreman or supervisor, strong civil engineering knowledge, and solid RAMS and safety awareness,

Qualifications

• Experience as Working Foreman or similar on civil engineering sites.
• Strong civil engineering knowledge and construction methods.
• Ability to lead while performing hands-on work.
• Excellent health and safety awareness and practice.
• Good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and coordinating site operatives and subcontractors.
• Assisting with the planning and sequencing of daily works.
• Working hands-on alongside the site team where required.
• Ensuring works are completed safely and in accordance with RAMS.
• Monitoring quality and ensuring specifications are followed.
• Coordinating plant, materials and deliveries.
• Liaising with the Site Manager and Project Management team.
• Maintaining high standards of health & safety on site.
• Reporting progress, issues and requirements to senior management.
• Ensuring programmes and daily targets are achieved.

Freelance Working Foreman

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Working Foreman to join a well-established civil engineering contractor on a project in Stockton-on-Tees.

This is a hands-on site-based position, suited to an experienced Foreman/Site Supervisor who is confident leading site activities while also getting involved with the works directly.

The Role

As Working Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, coordinating subcontractors and site teams, and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supervising and coordinating site operatives and subcontractors
• Assisting with the planning and sequencing of daily works
• Working hands-on alongside the site team where required
• Ensuring works are completed safely and in accordance with RAMS
• Monitoring quality and ensuring specifications are followed

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a Working Foreman, General Foreman, Site Supervisor or similar
• Strong experience within civil engineering
• A good understanding of construction methods, sequencing and site operations
• The ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on
• Strong health & safety awareness
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Relevant site qualifications, ideally SSSTS/SMSTS and CSCS
• Previous experience working for a civil engineering contractor
