Job summary

Lanes Group operates a Crawley Depot and is seeking a Working Depot Lead - Days to manage depot operations, stock handling and audits. You will maintain logs, ensure a safe, tidy environment and uphold compliance across processes, with responsibility for asset control and key management.

The role requires a UK driving licence, basic IT literacy, and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards of site presentation during 4 days on/4 days off shifts (6am–6pm).

Qualifications

  • Experience in a depot, stores or facilities role.
  • Full UK driving licence; Class 2 HGV desirable.
  • Experience with asset/stock control or auditing processes.
  • Health and Safety certifications (IOSH or First Aid) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain logs for keys, site access, and fuel cards.
  • Issue and retrieve keys and fuel cards with accountability.
  • Store assets securely and report missing or damaged items.
  • Keep depot tidy, clean and well presented.
  • Conduct regular audits of keys, stock, and fuel cards.
  • Identify discrepancies and assist in corrective actions.
  • Support wider depot compliance checks and inspections as required.

The Working Depot Lead is responsible for the efficient management of depot operations, ensuring the proper handling, storage, and distribution of materials and stock. This role includes overseeing the depot's standards, ensuring it remains tidy, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations. The Working Depot Lead will manage stock levels, order PPE, and ensure the smooth movement of materials. Additionally, the role involves conducting regular audits, ensuring compliance with internal policies, and preparing for external audits. Proactivity and escalation of any issues when needed will be a key part of this role.

About the Role
Key & Asset Management
  • Maintain accurate logs for allkeys, site access keys, and fuel cards.
  • Issue and retrieve keys and fuel cards, ensuring full accountability and traceability.
  • Store all assets securely and elevate any missing, damaged, or unaccounted‑for items.
Site Housekeeping
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organiseddepotenvironment at all times.
  • Monitor and ensurecorrect parking and vehicle positioningacross the site.
  • Support general site presentation, including tidiness of stores, yard areas, and communal spaces.
Audits & Compliance
  • Conductregular auditsof keys, stock, site keys, and fuel cards in line with internal procedures.
  • Identify discrepancies and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Support widerdepotcompliance checks and inspections as required.
