Job summary

Lanes Group PLC is seeking a Night Minor Civils Engineer to join our Special Projects team in Tonbridge, Kent. This permanent, full-time role involves repairing sewer chamber frames and covers, refitting to SOPs, and maintaining high health and safety standards.

The position runs nights, with a 50-hour week and start times discussed at interview. You will work within our Utility Division on the Southern Water contract, stocking depot materials, managing现场 safety, and documenting works with

Responsibilities

• Ensure materials are stocked from the depot for all work planned, including sewer chamber covers, cement, resin, tarmac.
• Prepare the boiler system for the tarmac while at the depot, ensuring the correct temperature.
• Conduct an onsite risk assessment, supported by photos.
• Deploy traffic management per processes and accompany evidence with photos.
• Complete a service avoidance of the area for cables and services with photos (CAT and Genny).
• Repair and replace broken sewer chamber frames and covers following the SOP F&C PMMA guide; take measurements and lay materials.
• Ensure any waste on site is cleared and document changes to the SOP.

The Minor Civils Engineer is a key part of the Special Projects team, repairing and replacing broken sewer chamber frames and covers, whilst adhering to BSI regulations.

Position: Night Minor Civils Engineer

Location: Tonbridge Depot (Kent)

Job Type:permanent, full time

Hours:Monday to Friday, 50 hours per week (start times to be discussed on interview)

About the role:

Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Southern Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste-water network and drainage problems.

• Ensure materials are stocked from the depot for all work planned
  • including but not limited to sewer chamber covers, cement, resin, tarmac…
• Prepare the boiler system for the tarmac whilst at the depot, ensuring the correct temperature is reached
• Conduct an onsite risk assessment, supported by the appropriate photos
• Deploy traffic management as per processes and rams and evidence with photos
• Complete a service avoidance of the area for cables and services alongside documenting photos
  • CAT and Genny in particular
• Repair and replace broken sewer chamber frames and covers referring to the SOP F&C PMMA step-by-step installation guide (separate to this document):
  • Remove defected Sewer Chambercover using the appropriate tools, with photographic evidence
  • Measure the area to cut, clearly marked out, ensuring clean lines and accuracy, remove spoil and confirm with pictures
  • Taking into consideration guidelines and scope of works, lay the bed and frame ensuring it is level, supported by photos
  • Lay the resin, tarmac and chippings in accordance with the guide alongside documenting photos
• Ensure any waste left on site is cleared and confirm with pictures
• Review any changes to the Standard Operating Practise and adhere to any amendments throughout your work
• Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them
• Any other reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by management
