Role:

Salary: Band 9, £41,133 to £47,712

Location: Agile, Forth Banks Police Station and homeworking

Hours/Contract: 37 hours per week, permanent

The Role

Think you have what it takes to help us make a difference? This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Workforce Planning and Insights Department as a Workforce Planning Analyst.

Working as a Workforce Planning Analyst, you will be key in ensuring we have a robust workforce with the right skills to meet current and future demand.

What you’ll do

This isn’t your typical analyst role. Northumbria Police have a wide range of roles and skills that are unique to policing. In your role as Workforce Planning Analyst, you will work as part of a team to provide accurate and timely analysis of our workforce through people intelligence and metrics. Using your strong understanding of workforce planning principles and methodologies, you will create detailed capacity and capability forecasts, both short/medium and long term.

In your role, you will use your workforce planning, data, and statistical analysis skills to create forecasting and modelling tools. These will allow you to undertake effective interpretation, skills-based demand analysis, scenario planning, and predictive forecasting to ensure current and future capacity and capability requirements meet our organisational needs.

People intelligence and metrics are key to our team's success. They enable us to develop compelling, data-driven approaches, narratives, and recommendations that improve the visibility of our workforce, enhance performance, and effectively plan to meet the capacity and capability needs of the force. You will use your data insights to create products that showcase your presentation and data visualisation skills across various media.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will inform, based on appropriate evidence, attraction, recruitment, training, and development initiatives through producing and maintaining detailed and dynamic people intelligence and analyses.
  • Design and deliver effective workforce planning, forecasting, and management solutions that support medium-term and long-term organisational needs.
  • Develop comprehensive succession plans and skills-based analyses to ensure resources are identified and developed in a timely manner, helping to understand pipelines across the force area.
  • Attend and participate in workforce meetings, using data visualisation and presentation skills to support corporate decision-making to meet operational and strategic resourcing objectives.
  • Engage with key stakeholders across various departments to gather and share information to meet business objectives and support the delivery of force resourcing strategies and plans.
  • Ensure system modifications and changes are up to date, fit for purpose, and support the maintenance and development of core systems underpinning the workforce planning function.
