Job summary

Jobtailor in London is seeking an experienced Workday reporting specialist to design and build Composite, Matrix, and Advanced reports for finance. You will translate stakeholder requirements into performant, maintainable report designs and ensure robust output.

You will configure dashboards, data sources, and security, validate reports, and support testing and knowledge transfer to finance users. The role emphasizes accuracy, data integrity, and timely delivery in a regulated financial services

Qualifications

• Extensive, demonstrable experience building and maintaining Workday Composite, Matrix, and Advanced reports.
• Fluency with Composite reports, including sub-reports, control field and data columns, row types, calculation expressions, outline structures, repeating column groups, prompt sets, analytic indicators, and drill-to links
• Confident configuration of Matrix report row and column groupings, summarisation, drill-down, and field values groups
• Confident use of Advanced report filters, sub-filters, dynamic data rows, and sort orders
• Proven track record building custom reports across the broader Workday report catalogue in a Workday Financials context
• Strong understanding of Workday business objects, report data sources, fields, and report performance
• Experience authoring and applying calculated fields
• Understanding of financial reporting concepts, including income statements, plan versus actuals, variance analysis, and dimensional drill-down
• Rigorous, detail-oriented approach to reconciliation, edge-case identification, and quality review
• Clear written communication for design documentation and stakeholder sign-off
• Exposure to Workday Accounting Center and/or Prism Analytics, and understanding of upstream data flows into Financials reporting
• Experience with dynamic control fields for accounting work tags and multiple statement variants
• Experience tuning report performance on high-volume tenants using indexed data sources
• Insurance industry experience highly desirable; Lloyd's of London market preferable
• Experience in another regulated financial-services environment will be considered
• Experience configuring dashboards and worklets and enabling reports as web services for downstream integration

Responsibilities

• Gather and refine reporting requirements from finance and accounting stakeholders
• Translate requirements into accurate, performant, and maintainable report designs
• Design and build custom Workday reports, including Advanced and Matrix reports
• Design, build, and maintain Composite reports combining multiple sub-reports into consolidated outputs
• Build Advanced and Matrix sub-reports and configure business objects, filtering, grouping, columns, calculations, and empty columns
• Apply repeating column groups, prompt sets, analytic indicators, conditional formatting overrides, and drill-to report links
• Use dynamic control fields for accounting work tags to generate multiple financial report variants
• Build Matrix reports with row and column groupings, summarisation, drill-down, and field values groups
• Build Advanced reports with dynamic data rows, sub-filters, and sort orders
• Build and reuse calculated fields to reshape, format, retrieve, and derive data
• Select appropriate standard, indexed, and Prism data sources and tune report performance
• Validate and troubleshoot reports using Validate Composite Report, Report Definition Usages, and Clean Up Custom Report
• Resolve join exceptions, anomalies, and warnings
• Configure output, sharing, scheduling, report groups, and bursting for reliable finance deliverables
• Manage report security across relevant security domains
• Document report designs and prepare specifications for review and business sign-off
• Support testing, source-data reconciliation, and knowledge transfer to finance users
