About the role…
If you are an experienced Senior Workday Developer/Technology Lead with strong Workday expertise, this may be a great opportunity for you to join as a Workday Enterprise Systems Manager.
This role will play a key part within the IT Operations team, ensuring Workday provides value and ROI. Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Systems Change, you will own the technical development (enhancements and BAU), health, and integration of our Workday platform. This includes creating custom applications and PoCs as needed and working closely with People, Finance (including Procurement/Sourcing), and ITO Teams. Innovation, including automation and AI development, is a key focus.
You will join a team managing and enhancing how Workday supports organizational processes and improves customer experience for colleagues.
What you will be doing
As a Workday Enterprise Systems Manager at the Crick, you will:
- Ensure Workday aligns with business needs and IT strategic objectives (collaborating with IT Operations (ITO), People, and Finance teams) by capturing, assessing, and prioritizing improvements across these areas, ensuring agile sprints are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
- Manage all aspects of implementing, configuring, and optimizing Workday modules, working with cross-functional colleagues to create detailed designs, define technical specifications, and develop delivery plans.
- Ensure robust development practices, including coding standards, testing, and documentation, are followed and continuously improved through lessons learned/retrospective exercises, in accordance with ITIL best practices. Be aware of GDPR considerations and manage related risks.
- Monitor the health, usage, and compliance of Workday and its applications.
- Create and maintain internal technical documentation and manuals regarding Workday processes and automation tasks.
- Monitor and resolve escalated BAU issues, providing advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
About you…
You will bring…
- Strong hands-on Workday development and configuration experience in modules such as HCM, Core HR, Financials, Absence, Security, and Integrations, including AI and automation.
- Solid understanding of business processes in these areas.
- Experience in system integration, platform development, and change delivery in an enterprise context, including large-scale data uploads.
- Knowledge of Workday Security Model: managing domains, security groups, and role-based access controls.
- Proficiency with Workday Integrations: EIBs, Core Connectors, Workday Web Services (WWS), APIs, and Web Services (REST/SOAP), JSON, and XML.
- Experience with Change Control & QA, including peer reviews, structured testing, deployment practices, and environment management.
- Familiarity with Agile or iterative delivery methods.
- Awareness of Workday roadmap, emerging features, and innovation opportunities.
