Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and organised intern to join our Digital Economy policy team for a 1-week work shadow placement opportunity. This opportunity offers the chance to work on impactful policy initiatives and programmes that contribute to the tech sector's growth and innovation. You will assist with research, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement, gaining valuable experience in a professional work environment. This is a chance to be at the heart of tech policy. The UK tech sector is the UK’s modern economic success story. Not only this, the tech sector, and digitisation, is integral to the growth of all sectors across the economy. Virtually every other business sector has a ‘growth plan’ predicated on greater digitisation and the use of new and emerging technologies like AI.

  • Introduction to techUK and the wider tech sector
  • Conduct research and gather data on relevant policy or programme initiatives
  • Build your understanding of Parliament and how the parliamentary process works
  • Learn about international relations and partnerships
  • Assist with marketing initiatives and event planning

  • Experience a professional work environment through office lunches and stakeholder calls

Opportunities

  • Assist with day-to-day tasks and programme initiatives under the guidance of experienced Policy Managers
  • Conduct research and develop editing skills reviewing reports and papers
  • Support the planning and coordination of meetings, events and workshops
  • Create speaker briefs and RSVP invitations to support event delivery
  • Participate in internal meetings and gain insights into business operations
  • Political monitoring relating to the technology sector, producing summaries for the team
