Job summary

City of Portsmouth College is seeking a Work Placement Coordinator at the Sixth Form Campus to engage with employers, students and curriculum staff to secure meaningful work experience placements that support the college’s study programmes.

You will prepare students for placements, support them during placements, monitor progress, and develop ongoing employer links to widen opportunities while maintaining accurate records and reports.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners.
  • Experience in a similar role or in employer engagement is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Promote work experience, industry placements and employer engagement opportunities.
  • Work with a caseload of students to meet planned work experience hours.
  • Liaise with students and curriculum teams to plan and deliver high‑quality placements.
  • Develop and establish employer links and long‑term relationships.
  • Maintain tracking and monitoring systems for work experience and placements.
  • Maintain and update management information to monitor placement uptake and evaluate progress.

Job Title: Work Placement Coordinator Location: Sixth Form Campus Salary: Actual salary £22,966.99 - £26,220.65, Full Time Equivalent £26,494.86 - £30,248.30 per annum Hours of work: 37 per week, 37 Weeks per year, Full-Time, Permanent

About The Role:
To engage and liaise with, employers, students, and curriculum staff to seek work experience opportunities for students to enable them to participate in meaningful work‑related activities in the workplace to complete their study programme. In addition, you will prepare students for their work placement, support them whilst in placement and will monitor and record their progress. You will also be required to seek out new work experience opportunities by visiting and meeting with local businesses and organisations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote work experience, industry placements and employer engagement opportunities to enhance student participation.
  • To work with a caseload of students to meet their planned work experience hours in line with the college’s KPIs.
  • Liaise and participate in meetings with students and curriculum teams to plan and deliver high‑quality work experience, industry placement and employer engagement opportunities.
  • Develop and establish employer links, promoting and fostering long‑term working relationships.
  • Maintain accurate and update tracking and monitoring systems for all work experience, industry placement and employer engagement opportunities in line with the College’s processes and work experience policy.
  • Maintain and update effective management information to monitor work placement uptake by students to provide a robust evaluation system and identify gaps moving forward.
